Thank you for your email.
All travelers to Oman must possess valid Omani travel documents, including those traveling for visa interviews.
The Embassy cannot intervene in Omani visa matters on behalf of immigrant visa applicants. Applicants should be aware that U.S. immigrant visa processing times can take up to a year or more, depending on administrative processing requirements. If the U.S. Embassy grants the transfer request, it is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that their visa is valid until case processing is completed.
Omani immigration regulations do not allow travelers to remain in Oman without a valid visa. Consequently, applicants should be prepared to return to their country of residence to await completion of processing requirements.
The U.S. Embassy cannot provide food, shelter, or financial assistance to applicants awaiting visa processing.
Remaining in Oman without a proper visa is illegal. All applicants must abide by Oman’s immigration regulations. The U.S. Embassy cannot intervene or assist with Omani visa matters.
If U.S. Embassy Oman grants your transfer request, the Embassy will reach out to the National Visa Center (NVC) for your case’s transfer / reassignment. NVC will then be in touch with you directly with an appointment date, when your case is documentarily complete. The Embassy is unable to accept cases that have not been documentarily qualified with NVC.
Due to the regulations above, U.S. Embassy Oman is only willing to accept cases for individuals who have a valid Oman visa on a first-come first-serve basis. The visa must be valid for more than thirty days. Please be aware that a one month visa validity is not sufficient to request a case transfer. Applicants must send proof of the valid Omani visa to [email protected].
