SORU:
Dear Sir / Madam,
I am getting contact with your center on the behalf of my Diversity Immigrant Visa for 2020.
I have been selected for further processing with fiscal year 2020.
I have a couple questions about DS-260 form. When I applied for the lottery, I was engaged with my fiancee so I have selected my marital status as 'single'. However, we have scheduled our wedding for this summer. When I proceed to fill the form, should I fill my information before getting married or after the wedding? Is it possible to add my husband after I submit the DS-260 form now or do I have to submit the forms together after the marriage?
As my passport number, my surname and my marital status is going to change by the time we have the interview, I would like to ask you that if I should submit the form after I update all of the papers. I am concerned if there are any deadlines for the submission of DS-260 form as our wedding is going to be mid-summer. Could you please also give me information about the deadlines and approximate time to submit forms and papers according to my case number?
CEVAP:
Thank you for your inquiry.
We can provide you with the following general guidance, which is also included on the www.dvselectee.state.gov website:
In general –
• If your family circumstances have changed after you entered the lottery, for example, if you have very recently gotten married or had a child, you will need to add your new family members to your case when you and your family fill out your DS-260 application forms. (“Family member” refers to a spouse and/or unmarried children who had not reached age 21 before you entered the lottery.)
• If you had a spouse or children prior to submitting your original entry, but you did not include them on your original entry form, then your case will be disqualified at the time of your visa interview. Neither you nor any of your family members will receive visas. Any fees you pay will not be refunded.
Further information can be found in the Diversity Visa Instructions. Please read the information in this message and all instructions carefully, and decide whether you wish to pursue your application further. If you have additional questions, you may contact KCC by e-mail at [email protected].
The required forms should be completed using the name that appears on your passport and/or other legal documentation. Any other names you have previously been identified by, including maiden names should be listed on the DS 260 in the "Other Names Used" field.
Interviews for the DV 2020 program will begin October 1, 2019, and process through September 30, 2020. All DV 2020 cases must be completely processed by September 30, 2020. Prompt response in completing the required form will allow ample time for necessary processing.
In order for the Kentucky Consular Center to assist with inquiries regarding a specific Diversity Visa (DV) case, you must provide the Principal Applicant's full name, complete case number, and date of birth in the following format (MMDDYYYY) as entered on the original entry. Please remember that the Kentucky Consular Center does not have the authority to tell you whether or not your specific case will be disqualified. Only a consular officer can do that at the time of your visa interview. Do not send any paper documents to the Kentucky Consular Center.
